Music
We have groups for all ages and abilities and we are always looking for new members.
Sanctuary Choir
This choir is for adults college age and older with rehearsals at 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the Sanctuary. Come and join us!
Cherub Choir
The Cherub Choir is for children ages 4 (pre-kindergarten) through first grade. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Basic elements of music are introduced: melody, rhythm and tempo. This choir leads children to music through songs, games, crafts and other activities. Children learn to worship and praise God through singing, playing simple rhythmic Orff instruments and movement. This choir, along with the QuarterNotes (see below) prepares and presents songs for worship services, participates in the Christmas pageant and presents a musical in the spring.
Quarternotes Choir
For children in 2nd through 5th grade, the Quarternotes Choir meets on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 6:45 p.m. This choir builds on skills learned in the Cherub Choir. Basic elements of music are emphasized: melody, harmony, rhythm and tempo. This choir will continue working with rhythm instruments, melodic Orff instrument and movements to enhance their participation at worship services, pageants and musicals. They will also learn percussion techniques on our gathering drums and develop basic ringing skills on hand chimes and handbells.
Handbells
The Branderbells perform several times throughout the year at each of our worship services. This ensemble also attends an annual handbell festival, hosted locally and directed by a nationally known composer. Music-reading ability and previous musical experience are essential, though not necessarily with handbells. This ensemble meets on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary.
