Mission statement:

The mission of Adult Ministries is to enhance the congregation’s  environment for spiritual formation so that adults of our congregation increase their knowledge of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by helping them grow in appreciating, reading, understanding, and applying scripture to daily life.

Adult Sunday School

will resume in September

Disciple Bible studies

The Disciple Bible Study program provides an in-depth study of Scripture. These high commitment, 34-week Bible studies bring participants into a closer relationship with God and each other. New classes will begin in September. Call Sandra Bottoms, at the church (744-3661, ext 108) for details about the fall classes.

Yada Yada Prayer Group

This group of women strives to “know and be known to each other and to God”—the Hebrew meaning of the word “yada” – by discussing the books in this series and by building bonds with members via prayer.  The group meets at noon on the first Sunday of each month.  Contact Angie Branyon at apbranyon@henrico.k12.va.us or 320-3616  for more details.

Men’s Bible Study

meets at the church at 8:00 AM on Wednesdays during the school year.  The class usually oscillates between study of the Old and New Testaments. Leadership for each class is rotated among participants.  Contact Fred Carter at 639-1259 for further information about the fall class.

Older adult Ministry

The O.W.L.S. (older, wiser, livelier seniors), a ministry for adults 55+, was launched last spring.  Stay tuned for more details about fall  activities.  Contact Sandra Bottoms at 744-3661, ext. 108  to get involved.

The Men’s Breakfast

Start your Saturdays with a delicious breakfast, good conversation and interesting guest speakers. This is a multi-generational group that meets 8-9:30 a.m. on the second Saturday of every month, October through April. For more info, contact Bill Harp.

Choirs

We are always looking for enthusiastic singers and congregants with an interest in music. Join our song leaders for the 9:45 a.m. service or the adult choir at the 11 a.m. service. Our Bell Choir performs at special services throughout the year. Click here for more info.

Semi Circle

This circle of friends meets in the evening on the third Monday of each month in the homes of its members. Our focus is faith through devotionals, fellowship, informal programs and service. Service projects include CARITAS, the Christmas Mother program, the Chesterfield Volunteer Association, Habitat for Humanity, Brandermill Woods and the Lucy Corr Nursing Home. We provide support and friendship for Kettlande Pierre, our sponsored child in Haiti. Come join us! Contact Susan Clement at 748-5917 or ssclem@yahoo.com

MOPS

(Mothers of Preschoolers) meets twice monthly on Friday mornings during the school year for fellowship, speakers, crafts and fun.  A childcare program is provided.  Please contact Brandermill Church MOPS for membership inquiries.

Lena Bartges Circle

This circle meets at 1:30 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month, September through May. The meeting includes a business segment, Bible study, fellowship and refreshments. An offering is collected each month to support the Salvation Army and various other causes. The circle is named for Lena Bartges, the wife of the founding pastor of The Brandermill Church. Contact Claudia Lushch - 897-5911.

Caring for Creation Committee

The Caring for Creation Committee provides leadership to the congregation in education relating to issues of ecology, conservation, and eco-justice as a faith-based awareness of being good stewards of what God has given us.  Tom Pakurar will provide more information:  639-4454 or email at restorecreation@comcast.net.

The Brandermill Church library is located in the conference room.  Drop by and check out all our new books for adults, youth and children.
